When you have a garden, you have to keep it watered, not flooded with water, but enough to keep it wet. If the ground is not wet enough the ground will dry up and become hard. When the soil becomes hard it makes it harder for the plants to come through the dirt or they will not come out at all. If they do not have enough water, they will wither and die or at the very least will not produce many flowers or vegetables.
